Intune inventory and device-estate reconciliation
Provide a consistent view of devices and configurations by reconciling information from several administration tools.
The project
Development of administration tools for Microsoft and device-management systems. One workflow inventories Intune configurations and their assignments. Another reconciles device records across directories, service management and monitoring, so administrators can compare the records held by each system.
Engineering approach
Platforms do not always represent the same device under the same name. Reconciliation compares names, serial numbers and user associations; the report preserves discrepancies instead of hiding them in a merge. Policy inventory remains separate from hardware comparison.
Work delivered
A browsable configuration inventory and a comparative device report bringing together information held across several administration systems.
My contribution
- Paginated Microsoft Graph collection of configurations, compliance policies, applications, enrolment profiles, scripts and group assignments
- Production of JSON reports and a navigable HTML report from Intune and Entra objects
- Python/pandas reconciliation of devices from Intune, Entra ID, Active Directory, an asset database and a monitoring tool
- Generation of an Excel workbook with macros, serial-number comparison, discrepancy highlighting and publication to SharePoint
